Cash flow
Cash flow refers to the actual inflow and outflow of money over a specific period. It shows whether and when sufficient funds are available to cover ongoing expenses and helps identify potential liquidity shortfalls at an early stage. A typical example is comparing expected incoming payments from customer invoices with planned outgoing payments to suppliers. For forward-looking financial control, cash flow data is often used in a cash flow forecast and as a basis for liquidity planning.
