Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
Material requirements planning determines which materials or components are needed, in what quantity and at what time, so that procurement and production can be managed according to demand. It is based, among other things, on current requirements, available stock, open receipts and issues, and planning data from the item master data. In SAP Business One, it helps identify shortages and excess stock at an early stage and supports the structured preparation of procurement proposals. It is closely linked to the MRP run and safety stock, because this information helps stabilise planning and structure it by date, so missing materials can be ordered or scheduled internally in good time.
