EDI
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) refers to the standardised electronic exchange of business data between IT systems, such as orders, delivery notes or invoices. Its purpose is to transfer information automatically without media discontinuity, avoid manual data entry and improve data quality. In SIGMA projects, EDI is often implemented via the SIGMA EDI Cockpit add-on , which acts as an interface between different system landscapes and processes incoming and outgoing messages for each business partner in a structured way. This can significantly speed up processes around goods receipt and invoicing while reducing sources of error, so an EDI order can be transferred automatically into a sales order including plausibility checks.
