Open items
Open items are amounts from invoices or credit notes that have not yet been fully cleared and that a company either still has to pay or still expects to receive. They arise when a document has been posted but no full settlement has yet taken place through payment or offsetting. Open items are analysed by due date, amount and business partner and form the basis for liquidity planning and payment control. An open item for debtors remains outstanding until the incoming payment has been fully allocated, while an open item for creditors ends only when it has been fully settled.
