Partial delivery
A partial delivery means that an order is delivered in several instalments because not all items or quantities are available at the same time or because staged delivery is required. In an ERP system, the original order is not closed; instead, the remaining quantities stay open until they are delivered later or cancelled. This makes it easier to track delivery status, availability and invoicing accurately. In SAP Business One, a partial delivery is often posted from a sales order, with only the quantities actually dispatched transferred to the delivery document, while the balance remains available for further planning. A warehouse dispatches 60 of 100 units and makes the remaining 40 units available for goods issue after receipt of stock.
