Tracking Number
A tracking number is a unique shipment reference that allows a delivery to be digitally traced throughout its entire journey with the carrier. It is usually created when the shipping label is generated and provides status updates such as collected, in transit or delivered, which can be used in the process as delivery status. In ERP processes, the tracking number is stored on the shipping document and can be transferred automatically to customer communication or internal workflows. If deviations occur, notifications can be triggered via alert. A service team uses it to check the current delivery point and resolve enquiries without having to contact the parcel carrier manually.
