Variance
A variance is the difference between an expected or planned value and the actual result recorded. In ERP systems, it can arise when counted stock does not match the quantities held in the system or when amounts do not reconcile during internal reconciliation. Variances help to identify errors, posting gaps or process issues at an early stage and clarify them in a targeted way. A typical use case is determining a variance during a stock count or in internal reconciliation when documents and payments do not fully match.
