Batch picking
Batch picking is an order picking method in which item lines from multiple orders are collected together in a single picking run and then assigned to the individual shipments afterwards. Its purpose is to reduce walking distances and increase warehouse productivity, especially where there are many small orders with similar items. The picking process often follows a picking list and uses defined collection containers, while allocation to each order takes place only after picking, such as at packing stations or through scans at the storage bin. In day-to-day operations, lines from several customer orders are picked together, then packed by order and prepared for goods issue.
