Barcode
A barcode is a machine-readable code that uniquely identifies an item and enables data to be captured quickly and with minimal errors during scanning. In ERP systems, it is often stored in the Item Master Data so that items can be identified automatically during movements or postings. This speeds up processes because the relevant Storage Bin can be called up and the Inventory Level updated immediately. Barcodes can also be used in production orders to open processes more quickly and start an operation directly, so that confirmations and material movements are recorded without unnecessary intermediate steps.
