Depreciation
Depreciation refers to the scheduled or unscheduled reduction in the value of an asset over its useful life. It reflects the fact that fixed assets such as machinery or vehicles lose value through use, technological progress, or the passage of time. In accounting, this loss in value is recognised in the appropriate period and affects a company’s profit. In SAP Business One, the calculation and posting are carried out as part of the depreciation run, based on the stored depreciation parameters in the asset master data. This ensures that assets are valued correctly and that financial reports can be prepared in a transparent and traceable way.
