Stock Transfer
A stock transfer is the reassignment of goods from one warehouse to another or between storage areas within the company. The total quantity of an item remains unchanged, but the location of the stock changes in the system. A stock transfer is used to reflect goods availability, internal movements and inventory management correctly. It differs from an inventory posting because no quantity correction takes place; only the organisational assignment is changed. In day-to-day operations, a correctly recorded stock transfer ensures that the right stock is available in the right storage location so that follow-on processes continue without unnecessary searching or posting errors.
